Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 6 - OPI You Don't Know Jaques Suede (AGAIN!) with polka dots!

So remember yesterday I used this as my 'Spring Clean' challenge post? Well I've been naughty and used the same mani for today's post 'pink polka dots'. I'M SORRY! To be fair I am in Gambia so ... ner :)

I love the combo of suede and glossy! I wish I could have kept these on for longer but like I mentioned yesterday, OPI suedes chip something chronic. For the polka dots I used:

Model's Own - Pink Blush
Chick Nails - All A Twitter
Models Own - Peach Sherbert

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 5 - OPI You Don't Know Jaques Suede!

Okay so I'm really naughty and I'm going to cheat a little bit because I'm going to Gambia for a week and haven't had a chance to get ahead with these posts. I feel guilty about missing ANY (I'm going to catch up with the ones I miss when I get back) so this is part one of a two day post.

Day 5 is: Spring Clean - A colour you never wear in Spring. I cannot think of a more autumnal colour than OPI's You Don't Know Jaques Suede. I LOVE OPI's suede polishes. Their lives are annoyingly brief however. I didn't wrap my tips when I did these because I need something I can wear all week so I was intending to take them off straight after I took the photos. The tipwear you see in these pictures is after about an hour and a shower! Crazy! But the beauty of this polish makes up for its fragility. Check these out:

Ahhhh! Oooohhhh! Check out that beautiful suede finish. YUM! I am also totally in love with the OPI pro wide brush. I didn't do ANY clean up on these nails. Nada. Zilch. That's amazing for me 'cos I'm completely messy at applying nail polish.

Anyway! See you on day six!

awards!

Okay so I'm gonna cheat (a little) and put all these in one post :) These first two lovely awards - the One Lovely Blog award and the Butterfly award are from Rychelle at Colour Splash Nails - check her out! Thankyou sooo much! :) EDIT: I also received these from the ever wonderful Maria at Maria's Nail Polish Blog - So sorry Maria, I am an idiot and miss these things. Please check her out too. Her nail art and swatches are simply stunning!

The first is One Lovely Blog Award, and the rules are:
1. Link back to the person you got it from
2. Tell seven things about yourself
3. Give the award to ten bloggers
7 Things About Me: (I tried to come up with some new stuff!)
1.I am totally addicted to Skyrim right now. Like 200 hours in addicted.
2.  have two middle names - Charis Louise. My sister has five. My parents are weird.
3. I have three pets - two cats; Miguel and Ponyo and a bunny called Starbuck (after the BSG character, not the coffee chain)
4. I have one term left of my degree and I am TERRIFIED of having to be a *real* person in the *real* world.
5. I really like having debates with people - I love to talk about 'issues' and politics and all that Jazz.
6.I cannot drive. I've had 65 driving lessons and have been learning since I was 17 (seven years!!!) and I STILL cannot drive. It's not that I'm no good at it, it's that I am terrified that other people are no good at it. A car crashed into me once on a roundabout whilst I was learning. I was stationery - and it just drove into the side of my little metro. It was very scary and now I'm a super nervous driver. I would love to be able to drive. My partner doesn't drive either so we walk everywhere.
7. I should be working right now :)

The rules for the butterfly award are:
1. Link back to the person who awarded this award to you.
2. Answer the following questions.
3. Award to other bloggers and let them know.

The questions:
What's your favourite song? Breathing by Kate Bush - the most beautiful and poignant song ever written about nuclear weapons.
What's your favourite dessert? Creme brulee. Nom.
Who's your favorite pet? All of them!
Black or white?
Black

What's your biggest fear?
Instability - I like to plan and know what's going to happen in my immediate future. Which is why I pay my rent four months in advance. Ha.
What's your best feature?
Ooh.. um... my sparkling wit? :/
What's your everyday attitude?
I do what makes me happy.
What is perfection?
A lazy summer sunday at the local beach with a picnic, my friends and my family.
What is your Guilty pleasure?
Nail Polish. Terrible TERRIBLE TV. I like watching those rubbish crime documentaries, and stuff like Air Crash Investigation and Come Dine With Me. I'm also secretly addicted to Next Top Model.

Okay this next award was given to me by the supersweet Bunny Nails. Thankyou so much! Check her out, she has the longest, most beautiful nails!

When receiving this award, I need to:

  1. Nominate 15 fellow bloggers.
  2. Inform the bloggers of their nomination.
  3. Share 7 random facts about yourself.
  4. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  5. Add the Versatile Blog Award picture to your blog post.
7 random facts about me:
1. I love anything Japanese. My dissertation topic is about Japanese aesthetics and experimental music.
2. I am allergic to pineapple, which sucks 'cos it's delicious.
3. I want to live in New Zealand, Japan or somewhere in Canada.
4. I am a star wars geek!
5.I don't own a single pair of high heels. I don't understand them. They hurt my feet and I can't walk in them.
6. I really love working with small children. Really small ones like 5 and 6. We have an affinity.
7.I can never decide what to have for breakfast.

Okay here are the bloggers I'm awarding this to:

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 4 - Spring Water Marble!

Day 4. Water Marble. Two words that strike fear into the hearts of bloggers everywhere (except the really clever ones who can do perfect beautiful water marbles :))

This is my first attempt at a water marble. I wish I'd used stronger colours - the blue totally washed out and went all grey. I kind of like it but it's not the effect I was going for.

Wonky left hand shot

So I was about to take it off because I felt a bit 'meh' about it... and I had an idea... why not stamp on it? Et voila!

Another wonky left hand shot - I cannot take pictures of my left hand. I can't even pose my left hand. My little finger won't go straight - it sticks up all ridiculously. :)

And now I love it! It reminds me of 90's graffiti - like a shirt that Will Smith might have worn in the Fresh Prince! Haha.

I used:

Sally Hansen No Chip Base Coat
Models Own - Pink Blush
Chick Nails - All A Twitter
Models Own - Peach Sherbert
ELF - Twinkle
Konad Special Stamping Polish - Black
Seche Vite

Check out all these other lovely bloggers also taking part in the challenge:

Thanks for looking!

Pruple Crumpet Fairy Spring challenge Day 3 - Small Flowers

Hello!

Hi! So today is day three of the challenge. There wasn't a challenge on Thursday. It's nice to have a break :) I am SO excited to show you these because I am SO happy with them! This is Models Own - Beth's Blue which is THE most beautiful forget-me-not blue. I am totally in love with it.

Sorry about the kazillions of pictures. I really love this manicure! I did the stripes using sticky labels cut into thin strips and the flowers with a dotting tool.

The black I used is a-england - Bridal Veil which is no ordinary black... OH NO! It's a beautiful black holo! I went over the blue with a coat of ELF - Twinkle which is my favourite glitter for that subtle tiny glitter effect. If you look at the close up shots, I managed to get a piece almost perfectly in the centre of a tiny flower. Ahhhww. :)

Please check out my fellow challenge-taking bloggers for their take on tiny flowers:

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 2 - Favourite Spring Pink!

Okay I am officially 38 minutes late with this! Whoops!

Day 2 of the Spring Challenge and today was 'your favourite spring pink'. So it was a toss up between HITS Atena and China Glaze - Dance Baby, but I ended up choosing Atena because of the beautiful beautiful holo which I could not seem to capture properly with my rubbish amateur photography skills (or lack thereof). I seriously spent forever going to every room in the house trying to capture Atena's beautiful holo-ey rainbow goodness. You're going to have to trust me I'm afraid - she's beauuutiful!

I think the last pictures shows the holo best. I stamped with Konad Special Stamping Polish and used Konad Charming Nails Plate Q1.

Atena has restored my faith in HITS after the awful, awful powerpuff girls polishes. The brush is still a bit rubbish, but the formula is definitely better with these. You can buy HITS polishes from Llarowe for $10 (about £7).

Please check out these other lovely bloggers participating in this challenge:

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Number 1 - Valentines!

Happy Valentines Day!

Or in our case - Happy Steak Day!

This is my first entry for The Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge - valentines/love. Unfortunately this didn't survive my procrastination cleaning - you know, where you're like 'I am definitely going to get this work done but first I'm going to beeswax the furniture and alphabetise my DVDs'? I didn't feel like being all pink and girly (although I have LOVED the pink and girly nails I've been seeing) so I did something a bit grungy instead. Pink and grey is pretty much the combo I love most - so here is my valentines mani!

Here's what I used:
Sally Hansen No Chip Base Coat
China Glaze - It's Alive!
Chick Nails - Gr8 Grey Owl
China Glaze - Purple Panic (I know it's CALLED purple panic but to my eyes it's definitely pink!)
a-england - Excalibur (for the stamping)
Seche Vite

Me and my boyfriend are so similar to eachother. We're into pretty much the same things and as such, all presents we buy eachother are presents that we'd want for ourselves too! This is what I got him for Valentines (steak) day:

YEAHHH! Mick Foley's greatest hits and misses! And here's what he got me:

YAYYYY!!!! I still haven't seen this so I'm excited. That makes my Ghibli collection up to date! Hoorah!

I hope you guys have had a great day, whether you're in a relationship or not :)

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge!

So tomorrow I start the dreaded (not really!) Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge!

I'll tell you right now that I won't be able to do them all (sorry) - I have a dissertation to do and I'm going to Gambia next week - HOORAY!!! So I will have to miss some, but I'll try and keep up as much as humanly possible and I'll start with my valentines mani tomrrow! I hope you'll like it. I've not been feeling pink and reds on me lately so I went a slightly different direction with it. I can't wait to show you! You can join in this challenge by contacting Debbie.

Will you be doing any of these challenges?

Valentines Bunnies Sunday Stamping Challenge

Hi! These nails were A LABOUR OF LOVE! Seriously it took me forever and I had so many mishaps. At one point I spilled an ENTIRE bottle of acetone all over myself. Doh. I didn't really feel like doing a proper 'valentines' mani, so I cheated a little and did bunnies with heart noses. Except I was supertired by the time I got to the noses so some of them are more like splodges. The topcoat smudged one bunnies mouth too so it looks a bit like she has fangs. She's the anti-valentines bunny, I guess. :) The clean up isn't so great either, since all of my acetone was soaked into my pyjama bottoms and my sofa cushions. Gah!

BUNNY FANGS!

I do kind of like how they turned out in the end though! I used:

Sally Hansen No Chip Base Coat
Chick Nails - All A Twitter (The most perfect duck egg blue ever!)
China Glaze - White on White
a-england - Camelot
China Glaze - Dance Baby
Konad Special Stamping Polish - Pink

For the bunny noses:

China Glaze - Wicked Style
Models Own - Beth's Blue
Orly - Ancient Jade

Seche Vite

What do you think? Did I cheat? :D

February Hearts and Bows

Hello! HAPPY FRIDAY! Do you ever have those days where you feel like everything you do is total cr*p? Well this was one of those days. I think I redid my nails four times before I got to this. I had all these visions and nothing went right. Anyway - THESE I kind of love! :) Fuchsia fanatic has photographed a bit redder than it actually is but it still looks awesome!

I used:

China Glaze - Fuchsia Fanatic
OPI - Skull and Glossbones
Orly - Old School Orange
Chick Nails - Gavie Green
Orly - Purple Pleather

I think Skull and Glossbones is becoming one of my most used polishes! I can't get enough of it!

What do you think?

A-england St. George with stamping and freehand. Phew!

This is a-england's super beautiful St. George. I put this on and thought 'I'm going to wear this on its own'. That lasted for about five minutes. I've spoiled myself with nail art and stamping.

Sunshine!!!

I had to get my boyfriend to take this picture so sorry it's a bit wonky.

Check out that beautiful teal sparkle. This polish is an insanely deep blackened teal with scattered prismatic holo particles. It is stunning.

So I stamped and dotted and brushed all over it...

I used:

a-england - St. George
Misa - Grey Matters
China Glaze - Dance Baby
HITS - Lindinha (I still hate this polish but I'm determined to find a use for it somehow)
Konad Special Stamping Polish - White

What do you think, should I have left it alone?
